What is the Lockbox?
The Lockbox is an extra-secure space inside Kipton for your most sensitive information, like account numbers, PINs, or private documents. It has its own password, separate from how you sign in.
- Encrypted on your device. Items are encrypted with AES-256 on your device before they're saved, and they're stored that way. We can't read them.
- Kept out of normal answers. Kipton uses your Lockbox items only while your Lockbox is open.
- Photos and files too. You can keep photos and files in your Lockbox, not just text.
While your Lockbox is open, Kipton can answer questions about what's inside. To do that, the items that match your question are decrypted on your device, and your question and the text of up to 5 matching items are sent to OpenAI to write the answer. Attachments aren't sent. Like all of Kipton's AI requests, OpenAI doesn't use this to train its models, and it may keep it for up to 30 days to watch for abuse.
We can't reset your Lockbox password for you, so keep your recovery key somewhere safe. See Forgot your Lockbox password?
